Fences Need Mending

You may, or may not, be aware that we, Fennel Ridge Homeowners are responsible for the fences along our common areas not adjacent to member properties. These include the fence on the east side of Tract C, the playground, and the fence along the east side of 189th Avenue from Lot 50 to the corner at 109th Street.

HOA lot plan included for reference.

The fence on 189th [item (2)] is in need of repair. As you can see from the photo above, there are a number of panels that were blown over during the recent windstorm.

Choices

We have choices:

  1. Hire a contractor to replace the fence at a cost of more than $10,000 dollars.
  2. Hire a contractor to repair the damaged panels.
  3. Create a work party to do the repairs ourselves.

Limited Funds

While our bank accounts are in good shape, we do not have the funds to hire a contractor without asking you for money. This would mean a Special Assessment.

Work Party

I will be sending out a questionnaire to test how the membership feels about these options and the Board will decide from there. Personally, I would rather we get together as a work party to share the labor and save on cost.

As a precursor to a work party, we will need someone with experience to access the damage, determine the materials needed execute the repair, and lead the work party. Cost of materials would, of course, be paid out of the HOA operating budget.

Please watch for a survey email entitled Fences Need Mending to provide your feedback.

Thanks.
